  • How do I contact you?
You can reach me through chat, text, or email: Text (Preferred): (970) 589-6356. I aim to respond within a few hours. Email: YorkieLane1@gmail.com. I check my inbox a few times daily. Call: You’re welcome to call, but please note that I’m often away from my phone while caring for my dogs and family. My voicemail box tends to fill up quickly, but I do check it each day. For the fastest response, text messages are best!
  • What is the price for one of your puppies?
My puppies start at $2,000 and go up depending on their sex, size, and coloring. Puppies will be priced by three weeks of age. Please note that I have only a few selective Breedings each year. All of my dogs are beloved family members and live in my home, not in kennels. Your new puppy will already be started on potty training and accustomed to the everyday activities of living in a home. From day one, they receive a lot of personalized attention to ensure a smooth transition to their new family.
  • Can I visit to select my puppy in person?
While I understand the excitement of selecting your new puppy, I do not allow casual visits or “puppy shopping.” I stopped doing home visits in 2021 to ensure the health and safety of the puppies, their environment, and my family. To help you make an informed decision, I regularly update pictures of the puppies on our website. I’m also happy to arrange video calls through Facebook, where you can see the puppies in real time. You are always welcome to ask questions, and I’ll do my best to provide all the information you need. Once a puppy is reserved, I will coordinate a meeting at an appropriate time. Thank you for understanding and respecting my commitment to the well-being of my dogs, puppies, and family.
  • When and where can I pick up my new puppy?
I will meet you in Grand Junction, Colorado to personally deliver your puppy. Together, we will arrange a convenient time and location that works for everyone. I’m committed to ensuring a smooth and comfortable transition for you and your new puppy. If you have any specific requests or questions regarding pickup, please feel free to reach out, and I’ll be happy to assist.
  • Do you deliver your puppies?
Yes, I deliver puppies to a designated meeting place in Grand Junction, Colorado. If you need your puppy delivered to another state, this may be possible; however, arrangements must be discussed and confirmed before purchasing your puppy. A delivery fee will apply, and it must be agreed upon and paid in advance. Alternatively, you are welcome to use a pet transportation service of your choice. Please note that you are responsible for arranging and coordinating with the service provider. I do not ship puppies, as they are a very small breed, and shipping can be too stressful for them. However, I am happy to meet you at the Grand Junction airport if you wish to fly in and travel home with your new puppy. If you have any questions or need further details about delivery options, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
  • Do you offer a health guarantee?
Yes, we offer a 10-year Genetic health guarantee with our puppies.
  • Have your puppies been vaccinated?
Yes, each puppy is up to date on immunizations and deworming treatments appropriate for their age. Puppies receive age-appropriate vaccinations. A detailed health record will be provided to you upon purchase. It is essential to continue their immunization schedule and preventive care as recommended by your veterinarian to ensure their ongoing health and well-being.
  • Beware of Scams: Protect Yourself When Searching for a Puppy
Unfortunately, there are scammers who prey on those looking to welcome a new puppy into their homes. These individuals often use stolen pictures from legitimate puppy websites or breeders, claiming to have puppies for sale. Their goal is to deceive you into sending money for a puppy that doesn’t exist. To help you avoid being scammed, here are some key tips and red flags to watch for: Stolen Pictures Scammers often take images from breeders’ websites or social media pages by right-clicking and saving them. They then post these photos on classified websites (e.g., PuppyFind.com, Kijiji.com) or social media, pretending they own the puppy. The puppy is usually advertised at an unusually low price to lure unsuspecting buyers. Unrealistic Claims Scammers may claim to be located in foreign countries such as Africa, Cameroon, Nigeria, or the United Kingdom, often citing reasons like religious mission work, government assignments, or similar excuses. Too Good to Be True Pricing Be cautious if the "seller" claims the puppy is free and only asks for shipping costs (commonly $200-$300). Genuine breeders prioritize finding the right home for their puppies, and unusually low prices should raise suspicion. Impossible Delivery Promises Scammers often promise doorstep delivery within 2-3 days, which is highly unlikely. Legitimate puppy transportation usually requires in-person pickup with proper identification, often at an airport. Airlines do not offer doorstep delivery, and quarantine laws in certain areas can complicate or delay shipments. Payment Methods Be wary if the seller insists on payment through Western Union or similar methods. While Western Union is legitimate, it’s often used by scammers because the funds are hard to trace. A seller who only offers this payment option should raise a red flag. Lack of Contact Information Scammers typically avoid phone calls and prefer to communicate only via email. If a phone number is provided, it may not work or could belong to an unrelated person. While some scammers can be reached by phone, using the other tips provided can help confirm if they’re legitimate. How to Protect Yourself: Whether you purchase a puppy from us or another breeder, we encourage you to stay vigilant. Here are some additional safeguards to consider: Request video calls with the breeder and the puppy to confirm the breeder’s authenticity. Verify the breeder’s reputation by checking reviews or speaking with past buyers. Avoid deals that seem too good to be true—authentic breeders invest significant time and resources in raising healthy puppies and won’t sell them for unrealistic prices. Ask for detailed health records and ensure the breeder is willing to answer your questions about the puppy’s care and upbringing. This information is provided to help you make an informed and safe decision when bringing a new puppy into your home. Stay cautious and informed, and you’ll find the perfect companion without falling victim to scams.
  • Will I receive AKC registration?
Yes, my adult dogs are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC). Puppies are sold as pets, and AKC registration is not included unless specifically requested. If you are interested in obtaining AKC Limited Registration for your puppy, please contact me prior to purchasing. Limited AKC Registration is available for an additional $500. This registration will be processed and mailed to the address you provide within approximately four weeks of your puppy’s pick-up date. It’s important to understand that AKC registration and the quality of a puppy are not the same. The AKC is a registry organization; it does not breed or sell dogs, nor does it guarantee the quality or health of the dogs in its registry. Additionally, AKC does not require breeders to perform any health testing on their dogs. If you choose to purchase an AKC Registration Certificate for a puppy sold on a pet contract (without show or breeding rights), you will receive a Limited AKC Registration Certificate. This certificate verifies the dog’s identity as the offspring of a registered sire and dam, listing the puppy’s name, birthdate, breeder’s name, and the names of its parents. If you purchase AKC registration for your puppy through us, I will handle the registration process after you receive your puppy. Please note that while I aim to complete registrations within four weeks, processing times can sometimes take longer. If you have any additional questions about AKC registration or how it applies to your puppy, feel free to contact me for clarification.
  • Why Do You Require a Deposit for a Puppy?
At Yorkie Lane, a non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your puppy. This policy ensures mutual commitment between us and the potential puppy parent, while also helping to cover the time, effort, and resources involved in raising our puppies. Below are the key reasons for our deposit policy: Why Is the Deposit Non-Refundable? Commitment A deposit confirms that you are serious about purchasing a puppy and helps prevent last-minute cancellations. This ensures the puppy you’ve chosen is held exclusively for you. Lost Opportunities Once a deposit is received, we turn away other interested buyers. If you cancel, we lose the opportunity to place the puppy with another family during that time. Resource Allocation Raising healthy, happy puppies requires significant investment in vaccinations, food, grooming, socialization, and other care. The deposit helps offset these costs. Administrative Costs Reserving a puppy involves extensive communication, record-keeping, advertising updates, and other administrative efforts. The deposit compensates for this work. Industry Standard Requiring non-refundable deposits is common practice in many industries where time and resources are dedicated to holding a product or service for an individual. Financial Planning Deposits help breeders manage finances effectively, including purchasing supplies and covering veterinary expenses. What Happens if the Transaction Changes? If Yorkie Lane Cancels the Sale: In rare cases, if we cancel the transaction (e.g., if we feel your home is not a good fit for one of our puppies), your deposit will be fully refunded, or you may choose to remain on our waiting list with your original deposit date. If You Cancel the Purchase: If you cancel, your deposit is not refundable, but it will remain on file and can be applied to a future puppy. If you cancel after your puppy turns 10 weeks old, your deposit will not be applied to another puppy. This ensures that the puppy has adequate time to find a loving home. Travel and Timing Considerations When planning to meet or pick up your puppy: Book refundable or flexible airline tickets in case of unforeseen changes. Travel expenses are not refundable under any circumstances. While we strive to keep schedules on track, there are occasions when delays may occur due to: Puppies needing additional time to wean from their mother. Adverse vaccine reactions requiring veterinary care. Health issues identified during a vet check that require further examination. Please remember, these puppies are not “products” on a shelf; they are living, breathing beings requiring care and consideration. Important Reminder: Ask all questions about your puppy early, ideally when the puppy is between 7-10 weeks old. Late cancellations (after the puppy turns 10 weeks old) disrupt their ability to find a new home in a timely manner. Thank you for understanding and helping us ensure the best outcomes for both our puppies and their future families!
